Why we built it

Real muscle. No gym required.

How it works

Hook it. Train.

01

Put the band under the platform.

02

Hook the band onto the bar, at your set length. That's it, you're good to go.

Same two steps every time. The band sits in the channel under the platform, then hooks onto the bar — once or twice, depending on the exercise.

One system. Nothing else to buy.

Everything's in the box.

Light. Strong. Portable.

Stack the resistance. Not your luggage weight.

This was one of the founding briefs: stack any two bands — an 85kg and a 65kg for 150kg — and you're training well past what most home setups offer, while the system itself still only weighs 5.75kg. That's nowhere near a typical 20–25kg airline luggage limit, so it travels in the same case as your clothes. Wherever you go, your gym goes with you.

The science

Built around your strength curve.

You're not a robot. Think of a press-up. You're stronger at the top than the bottom. Resistance bands already match that curve. Fitable anchors the band between the bar and the platform, so all of that force runs straight through your lift.

Why it works

01

The ascending strength curve

As your arms or legs extend, bone leverage and joint angles improve. You're naturally far stronger near full extension than at the start of a rep. Standard weights stay fixed at one load, so you're always capped by your weakest point and underloaded everywhere else. Fitable closes that gap, increasing tension as your leverage improves.

Proof: Anderson, Sforzo & Sigg (2008), Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 22(2), 567–574 — athletes training with variable elastic resistance saw nearly 3x greater strength gains in the back squat and 2x greater gains in the bench press than free weights alone, over a 7-week period.

02

Joint, tendon and ligament protection

A fully stretched joint carries the highest torque and mechanical strain. Fixed heavy weights place their full load right there, at your most vulnerable angle. Fitable is accommodating resistance: lighter load at vulnerable angles, ramping up only once your skeleton is aligned to handle peak force safely. Up to ~35% less joint compressive force than barbell equivalents. Bands are already widely used in NHS and physio-led rehab.

Proof: Cronin, McNair & Marshall (2003), Physical Therapy in Sport, 4(4), 175–183 — elastic variable loading significantly lowers peak joint impact loads while maintaining high training output.

03

Continuous acceleration and muscle recruitment

With standard weights, you naturally decelerate near lockout to avoid throwing the weight or over-extending. Muscle activity drops right when you're strongest. Fitable removes that momentum. Because tension rises as you extend, you have to actively accelerate through lockout, recruiting more high-threshold muscle fibres across the full rep.

Proof: McCurdy et al. (2009), Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 23(8), 2311–2320 — EMG tracking proved variable resistance sustains higher continuous muscle activation through extension by eliminating the deceleration phase inherent in free-weight lifting.

04

Extended time under tension

Failing a rep with free weights usually ends the set. With Fitable, once full-range reps reach exhaustion you can safely switch to partial reps at extension, where you're still strong enough to push. More muscle pump and fatigue, without loading a stretched joint.

Proof: Soria-Gila et al. (2015), Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 29(11), 3260–3270 (systematic review and meta-analysis) — accommodating resistance training produces statistically superior maximal strength gains versus standard constant-load resistance.

More than equipment

The first strength and conditioning class built around real resistance. Because everyone's already got the kit.

A normal gym class can't put real weight in your hands. There's no shared equipment for a room full of people. Every Fitable member already owns their own kit, so the class can actually load real resistance.
